Activated Carbon

Activated carbon is a product obtained by high activation based on carbon containing materials (carbide such as wood, coconut shell, lignite and bituminous coal) and as an aggregate of micro (amorphous) carbon with internal surface area, it is nonpolar adsorbent with physical and chemical stability. It is widely used in various industrial and environmental fields for the purposes of discoloration, deodorization, recovery, separation and collection.

Iodine Value’s Importance

  • There are various kinds of activated carbon such as coal briquet, granular activated carbon, powdered activated carbon and impregnated activated carbon and we design by selecting activated carbon according to gas characteristics of each business site
  • Iodine number 100mg/g or more activated carbon is used (iodine number 600 ~ 800mg/g when activated carbon needs to be replaced)
  • We design in ways that gas stays in activated carbon at least 1 second and activated carbon flow rate in adsorption tower is 0.5m/sec or less
